BBC /NGC/DISCOVERY/GRANADA has come up with a large number of famous films-magazines-books. These famous films-magazines-books are an interesting way of promoting the culture and wildlife of India. Not only BBC /NGC/DISCOVERY/GRANADA, but there are certain individuals who have also taken the pains to record and film the flora and fauna of this diverse country.
BBC /NGC/DISCOVERY/GRANADA has come up with famous films-magazines-books in both English and Hindi so that it can reach to the masses. These famous films-magazines-books have also helped in creating awareness among the masses in saving the wildlife for which India is famous. They cover various aspects like science, history, flora and fauna as well as documentaries. These channels have come with short documentary films which has covered various interesting aspects of India.
Discovery has come up with two short documentaries which could be rather called programs. These are “Ladakh – The Forbidden Wilderness” and “In the Pink”. The first documentary explores Ladakh at its best. It captures the culture and the wildlife of this place and showcases it in an interesting way. “In the Pink”, on the other hand captures the contemporary Mumbai where a large number of flamingos (around 20,000) come every year.
Ladakh and its surroundings have also been captured nicely in a short film called “A Road To Ladakh” by Ashvin Kumar. This was in the year 2002. This film was critically acclaimed and was released in different countries. Apart from this, two extremely difficult trips in the Himalayas were successfully filmed in 2004 and 2002 respectively. These are “The Zanskar gorge” and “the Upper Brahmaputra”. These films were also distributed in different countries for release.
When we are speaking of “Famous Films-Magazine-Books”, it is necessary to mention another name – Valmik Thapar. He is known as “India’s David Attenborough”. He is obsessed with tigers and was also a part of the Wildlife Asia Film Festival. He has been a part of a large number of photographing, filming and recording sessions for which has also received the President's Award for the Best Documentary Film in the year 1981. He has also written some popular books and articles which include “Tigers; the Secret Life” and “Tiger: The Ultimate Guide”. Due to all these he has been selected as the Executive Director of Ranthambhore Foundation. He is also a part of International Cat Group.
Apart from all these mentioned above, the National Geographic Channel (NGC) has a magazine known as National Geographic Magazine. This magazine has covered the Lower Tons Expedition in their 2004 July edition.
