BBC /NGC/DISCOVERY/GRANADA are some of the major channels covering the wildlife and other expeditions in India extensively. All these channels have come up with a large number of documentaries which deals with the flora and fauna found in India. BBC /NGC/DISCOVERY/GRANADA channels generally tie up with some of the channels available in India or some international channels to showcase the beauty of nature.

It was in July 1998 that National Geographic Channel Asia was launched and the rights for showcasing different events were given to Star TV.
The National Geographic Channel (NGC) has covered various incidents and happenings in India like the Mumbai Floods, Indian witch hunting, air crashes in India, earthquakes in India, the Metro rail in Delhi, the disappearance of lions and the Brahmaputra River. The main attraction of watching National Geographic Channel is that it combines adventure and entertainment together. The channel organizes reality shows as well.
The National Geographic Channel (NGC) had also organized a show called “NAT Geo Mission Udaan” along with Indian Air Force. This channel has also associated itself with films like “KAAL”. In this film, the protagonist was shown to be a reporter of NGC's Magazine.
Discovery Channel comes up with a program every Monday known as “Colors of India” which concentrates on the history of India. Apart from this, “Painted Nation” concentrates on the disappearance of hand painted articles of India. “Spiritual Nation” which is showcased every Tuesday concentrates on the faith, belief and rituals of India. You will also come to know about the Valley of Gods and various temples of India.
“Destination India” is aired every Wednesday in the Discovery Channel. This show captures the landscapes and cities of India. You will also find a program called “Wild India” which captures the flora and fauna of the country. Two famous programs shown here were “Ladakh – The Forbidden Wilderness” and “In The Pink”. “In the Pink” is a story about the huge flocks of Flamingos which visit the city of Mumbai every year. These programs have helped the world to know India in a better way.
