Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is one of the richest states in India in terms of flora and fauna and other natural attributes. Apart from this, this state in North India is also known for different types of adventure sports like trekking, Heli-skiing, skiing, ice-skating, para-gliding, angling, water and river sports, mountain cycling, vehicle safaris, rock climbing and mountaineering. Apart from expeditions and adventure activities, Himachal Pradesh is also known for the Winter Festival and Snow Carnival. This is visited by people from all over India. Tobogganing is also popular in the winter months. A large number of golf tournaments are also held here from time to time. You will also find a large number of angling and para-gliding competitions organized here.

If you are visiting Himachal Pradesh for expeditions and other adventure activities, you should carry certain things with yourself. These include Sunglasses, headgear, rucksack other bags, walking boots with good grip on ankles, socks and stockings, gloves, umbrella, rope, personal toiletries and clothes, water bottle, swiss army knife, sleeping bag, foam ground sheet, medical and first aid equipment as well as a warm jacket which is waterproof.

Wildlife expeditions are quite famous in Himachal Pradesh. Some of the Wildlife Sanctuaries you can visit here includes the following:

Maharana Pratap Sagar: It is a lake sanctuary where you can see the migratory ducks from Siberian region especially in the winters. This is located close to the Dhauladhar Ranges and Kangra Valley. The Black buck, Cheetal, Surkhab, Cranes, Pintails and other water birds can also be seen here.

Manali Sanctuary: It is located just 2kms from the Manali town. The road leading to this place passes through the Manali log huts and Dhungri temple. You will find Horse chestnut, Walnut, Deodar, Kail and Maple forests all around. Expeditions in Himachal Pradesh

Simbalbara Sanctuary: You will find this sanctuary in the Paonta Valley. The area is covered with Sal forests with grassy glades. You will easily find Sambhar, Goral and Chittal here. The best season to visit this place is winter and there are walking trails all around.

Churdhar Sanctuary: The best season to visit this place is the summers and the early winters. This place is mainly known for trekking. You can trek the Churdhar peak which is 3647 meters in height.

Chail Sanctuary: This sanctuary is known for the beautiful Deodar and Oak forests. Some of the animals you can find here are Goral, Cheer Pheasants and Sambar. You can also go for trekking.

Some of the National Parks in Himachal Pradesh include:

Great Himalayan National Park : Located in Kulu, you can enjoy the alpine pastures and glaciers cap in this park. You will also find animals like Leopard, Kalij, Koklas, Cheer, Tragopan, Snow leopard, Bharal, Thar, Monal, Musk deer, Brown bear, Snow cock, Serow, Goral and others.

Pin Valley National Park: You will find large herds of Ibex, Bharal and Snow leopard in this park.

Himachal Pradesh also has Nature Parks. These include:

Kufri Nature Park: This Park is famous for various rare species like Musk Deer, Monal, Hangal, Barking Deer, Brown Bear and other types of pheasants.

Manali Nature Park: This Park has played a major role in creating awareness for the preservation of wild life.
