Language is also an important part of the culture of Nagas. There are 60 different dialects which they speak. These languages mainly belong to the Sino-Tibetan family. The common language spoken in the markets is Nagamese. It is a variant language form of Assamese. All the tribes have their own mother tongue language. However, they communicate with each other in Nagamese but it is neither a written language nor the mother tongue of any community. English is used for education purpose and it is also the official language of the state.

Different districts and cities in Nagaland are known by different names. Dimapur is known as the "Gateway of Nagaland" and the "The Commercial Hub of the state”. It is also known as the "Melting Pot". Kohima is known as “Highland City" and "Misty City”. Tuensang is known as the "Serpentine town". Mokokchung is known as "Cultural capital (of Nagaland)" and "Picture perfect city".

Among all the tribes, Aos, Angamis, Lothas and Sumis are the largest tribes of Nagaland. All the tribes in Arunachal Pradesh are known for their weaving skills which they pass on from one generation to other. However, each of these tribes have their own designs and colors. The main items which they produce include shoulder bags, table mats, wood carvings, shawls, decorative spears and bamboo works. Nagaland Tours

Apart from handicraft items, Nagaland is also known for its tribal dances. Most of the people have an inborn capacity to dance. You will find a large number of War dances originating from Nagaland. Some of the major dance forms in Nagaland include Tuluni, Moatsu, Sekrenyi, and Tokhu Emong.

Nagaland is one of the best places in India for jungle camping, trekking and rock climbing. Thus, people who love trekking should visit this place. Apart from this, there are some tourist attractions as well. You should visit the Kohima Village which is known for its tribal architecture. The handicrafts of this place are also quite popular.

The World War II Cemetery will definitely remind you of World War II. The martyrs from this region lie buried here. Amid the manicured lawn, you will find two tall crosses. There is an inscription which reads: "When you go home, tell them of us and say For your tomorrow, we gave our today".

The Shangnyu Village is another attraction of Nagaland. There is a wooden monument which is said to have been built by heavenly angels. The Japfu Peak is the second highest peak and offers a lovely view of Himalayan peaks beyond the Kohima town. Some of the other destinations which you should visit here include Intangki Wildlife Sanctuary, Fakim Sanctuary, Nagaland State Museum and Dzukou Valley.
